About TLOT
Our Mission
Jesus told us that whatever we do for the least of those among us, He sees that as if we did it for Him. So, we want to do exactly that - serve Jesus by serving the least among us.
Our Story
It all started with a conversation over lunch in Haiti, where a missionary surgeon brought up a thought that baffled him all morning: “You can't do anything for God, you can't scratch His back. Yet, He tells us when we serve those who can never repay you [the least among us], the Almighty God sees that as if we did it for Him”. This thought spread among friends and inspired two young ladies to begin “The Least of These”, a project that began with collecting shoes for orphan kids in Ukraine and it has spread, further inspiring hundreds of young people who have joined over the years to serve the least among us.
In today's world, the Ukrainian people are bleeding. Over the last couple years, over 6.5 million Ukrainian refugees have been displaced across Europe, fleeing their homes in search of a safer refuge due to the ongoing war. Since February 24th, our team has been actively working to find ways to help those displaced, both within Ukraine’s borders and outside of them. In March of 2022, we had the privilege of working on the ground in Bucharest, Romania, serving in the train station, various refugee shelters across the city, and local churches to assist those refugees who were fleeing Ukraine. From there, working together with United with Ukraine in March and April 2022 we went on to serve at the San Diego - Tijuana border, helping reunite Ukrainian refugees with their families and friends living in the United States while they sought temporary refuge.
To date, we’ve had the wonderful opportunity to work with refugees in Romania, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Peru, Kenya, United States, and Ukraine. We’re looking forward to seeing how God continues to open doors for us to partner with local churches and organizations to continue doing this work and serve as best we can.
